At its heart are samples from Dave Smith Instruments' Prophet '08 analog synthesizer. One of my favorite features of this synth is you can stack two different presets together to create truly massive instruments.
I spent some time programming 15 patches and sampled them into Ableton Live instrument racks. I then took those instrument racks and layered those together to create even bigger sounds. Listen to some to a few samples below (each example is only one instrument!):
