Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about buying and selling music production resources on We Make Dance Music.

Products & Formats

What are DAW templates?

DAW templates (also called project files) are complete music production sessions that you open in your digital audio workstation. They contain the full arrangement, mixer settings, plugin configurations, automation, and MIDI data — everything the producer used to create the track. You can study, learn from, and build upon these sessions to create your own original music.

Which DAWs are supported?

We support all major DAWs including Ableton Live, Logic Pro, Cubase, FL Studio, Studio One, and Bitwig Studio. You can filter products by DAW format on any category page.

What other products do you offer besides templates?

Beyond DAW templates, our marketplace includes:

  • Audio stems — individual track bounces you can remix or layer
  • MIDI files — melodies, chord progressions, and drum patterns
  • Sample packs — curated collections of one-shots, loops, and textures
  • Vocal packs & toplines — professional vocal recordings and full vocal performances
  • Synth presets — for Serum, Massive, Sylenth1, Vital, and more
  • Production courses — video tutorials and masterclasses
  • Sound effects & FX packs
How many genres are covered?

We cover 40+ genres across electronic music, pop, hip-hop, cinematic scoring, and beyond — from house, techno, and trance to lo-fi, dubstep, drum & bass, and ambient. Use the genre filters on any category page to find exactly what you're looking for.

Do templates use third-party plugins?

Many templates use popular third-party plugins such as Serum, Sylenth1, Massive, Fabfilter, or Kontakt. The specific plugins required are always listed on the product page under "Requirements." If you don't own a required plugin, most templates include bounced audio stems so you can still use and learn from the project.

Can I use a template from one DAW in another?

DAW project files (.als, .logicx, .cpr, .flp) can only be opened in their native DAW. However, many of our products include stems (audio bounces) and MIDI files that can be imported into any DAW. Look for products that include multi-format assets.

What do I need to get started?

All you need is a compatible DAW installed on your computer. Check the product requirements to confirm your DAW version and any required plugins. After purchasing, download the files, extract them, and open the project in your DAW. It's that simple.

Licenses

What license types are available?

We offer four license tiers to match your needs:

  • Regular License — Use in your own music releases across all platforms (Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, etc.). One license per track.
  • Commercial License — Everything in Regular, plus use in commercial projects: advertisements, films, TV, video games, and client work.
  • Broadcast License — Full broadcast and sync rights for major media placements, TV networks, film studios, and large-scale commercial use.
  • Full (Exclusive) License — Lifetime exclusive ownership. The product is removed from sale and you become the sole owner of all rights.
What does the Regular License allow?

The Regular License lets you use a product in your own original music productions. You can release tracks commercially on all streaming platforms and digital stores, perform them live, and upload to YouTube or SoundCloud. You may not resell the original files, use them in client work, or sublicense them to others.

What is the Commercial License for?

The Commercial License includes everything in the Regular License, plus the right to use the product in commercial and client-facing projects. This covers advertisements, film and TV soundtracks, video games, corporate videos, and any work you produce on behalf of a client or brand.

What is the Broadcast License?

The Broadcast License provides full broadcast and synchronisation rights. It's designed for major media placements — TV networks, film studios, streaming services, and large-scale advertising campaigns. If your project involves significant media distribution, this is the license you need.

What is a Full (Exclusive) License?

The Full License gives you exclusive, lifetime ownership of the product. Once purchased, the product is permanently removed from our marketplace. No one else can buy it. You receive full rights to use, modify, and distribute the content in any way you choose. This is a one-time purchase and the product becomes exclusively yours.

Can I upgrade my license later?

Yes. If you purchase a Regular License and later need Commercial or Broadcast rights, you can upgrade. Contact us and we'll apply your original purchase price as credit toward the higher license tier.

Are the products royalty-free?

Yes. All licenses (Regular, Commercial, Broadcast, and Full) are royalty-free. Once you've purchased a license, there are no ongoing fees, royalties, or revenue sharing required for your releases.

Purchasing & Downloads

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept all major credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express) processed securely through Stripe, as well as PayPal. All transactions are encrypted and PCI-compliant.

How do I download my purchase?

After completing your purchase, you'll receive an email with download links. You can also access all your purchases anytime from your account dashboard under "My Downloads". Just log in, go to your account, and click the download button next to any product.

How many times can I download a product?

You can download your purchased products multiple times — there's no limit. Your downloads are always available in your account for as long as your account exists.

Do my downloads expire?

No. Once you've purchased a product, it's yours to download at any time. There's no expiry date on your access to purchased files.

Can I get a refund?

Because our products are digital downloads that are delivered instantly, we generally cannot offer refunds once files have been downloaded. However, if you experience technical issues or receive a product that doesn't match its description, please contact us and we'll work to resolve it or offer store credit.

Do I need an account to purchase?

Yes, creating a free account is required. This gives you permanent access to your download library, order history, and lets you re-download products at any time. It also allows you to leave reviews and manage your licenses.

Is there a subscription or membership?

No, we operate on a straightforward per-product purchase model. You buy what you want, when you want it. No subscriptions, no recurring fees, no hidden costs. Each purchase gives you lifetime access to the files.

Do you offer discounts or sales?

Yes! We regularly run promotions and seasonal sales. You can also find bundle deals that offer significant savings. Sign up for our newsletter to be notified of upcoming sales and receive exclusive discount codes.
